How to write 让 (ràng, “to yield”)

让 (ràng), an HSK 2 character, means “to yield”, “to permit” and “to let sb do sth”. The traditional form is 讓, 24 strokes instead of 5. On its own it is an HSK 2 word; it also forms 转让 (“to transfer”), 让步 (“to concede”) and 退让 (“to move aside”). Japanese keeps the traditional 讓, read jou (“allow”).
