Build a syllable
Every Korean syllable is a block: a consonant, a vowel, and sometimes a final consonant underneath. Vertical vowels such as ㅏ sit to the right of the first consonant, horizontal ones such as ㅗ sit below it, and a syllable that starts with a vowel sound is written with the silent ㅇ in front.
