Practice

Your starred characters, a ten-character daily quiz, what you looked at recently, and a viewer for any character with stroke data. All of it stays on this device.

How tracing is checked

Draw each stroke from where it starts. A stroke counts when it starts and ends near the model and goes the same way; after two misses the start of the stroke blinks. A finger, a pen or a mouse all work, and a finished character is ticked off in your progress on this device. With guide shows the model under your strokes; From memory hides it until you miss twice.

What a practice sheet holds

One page per character: the model, the stroke sequence frame by frame, rows that fade from dark to blank, and the readings and words from its page. It is built in your browser, so there is no sign-up and no daily limit; print at 100%. For many characters on one sheet, star them and print My list, or use a worksheet maker.

How My list works

Star characters on their pages and they gather here, Japanese and Chinese together. Print them as one worksheet, quiz yourself on ten of them a day, or send the list to a class as a link: the characters travel in the part of the address after the # sign, which browsers do not send to any server.

Keep a backup

Your list, quiz boxes and streak live in this browser's storage. Safari can clear a site's storage after about a week without a visit, and clearing browsing data removes it, so save a backup file now and then; loading it on another device brings everything back.

Any character

Add a character after the # in the address, such as #ja-鬱 for Japanese or #zh-龘 for Chinese, and it opens here with its animation, tracing and sheet, even when it has no page of its own yet.
