How to write ん (n) in hiragana
ん is the only kana that stands for a consonant alone, the n that closes a syllable; it never begins a word. It grew out of the cursive form of the kanji 无 (“nothing”). One flowing stroke draws it: it starts at the top and runs down and left then up and right then down and right, ending at the right. It turns up inside words such as 銀 (“silver (Ag)”), 三 (“three”) and 信 (“honesty”).
