How to write す (su) in hiragana

す (su) turns into ず (zu) with the voicing marks. It grew out of the cursive form of the kanji 寸 (“measurement”). Its two strokes begin at the top left, heading rightwards, and the last one finishes at the bottom. Words that start with it include 筋 (“muscle”), 姿 (“figure”), 少し (“a little”) and 推進 (“propulsion”).
