How to write く (ku) in hiragana
く (ku) turns into ぐ (gu) with the voicing marks. It grew out of the cursive form of the kanji 久 (“long time”). One flowing stroke draws it: it starts at the top and runs downwards, ending at the bottom. Words that start with it include 国 (“country”), 九月 (“September”), 車 (“car”) and 空港 (“airport”).
