How to write ヨ (yo) in katakana
ヨ (yo) never takes the voicing marks. Its shape keeps a part of the kanji 与 (“bestow”). It takes three short strokes: the first from the top left going rightwards then downwards, the last ending at the bottom right. Loanwords that begin with it: ヨガ (“yoga”), ヨット (“yacht”), ヨーク (“yoke”) and ヨチヨチ (“totteringly”).
