How to write フ (fu) in katakana
In the h-row, フ is read fu, not hu, and katakana uses it for foreign sounds too. Its shape keeps a part of the kanji 不 (“negative”). A single straight-edged stroke makes it, from the top left heading rightwards then down and left. Loanwords that begin with it: フル (“full”), ファン (“fan”), フィル (“philharmonic”) and フィン (“(diving) fin”).
